Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the placement of hair-thin, solid needles at carefully selected points on your body for the relief of pain, inflammation and stress management. The careful placement of needles at these points is believed to stimulate the body’s natural painkillers, relieving pain.

How does acupuncture work?

Your acupuncturist is trained to know which insertion points will provide relief of the pain you’re experiencing in its corresponding body part. These needles are NOT hollow and do NOT contain medicine. During treatment, many people feel nothing but you may feel the equivalent of a brief pinch.

In the course of an acupuncture treatment, multiple needles may be inserted near one another in order to increase the flow of healing blood, nutrients and natural pain killers to an area.

Most people have no visible signs of treatment, some may experience a reddening of the area or, infrequently, bruising.

Each body part is isolated and may even be placed on a rest or support. Treatment is focused on one body part per session. If other body parts require treatment then additional sessions are scheduled.

Acupuncture Testimonials

I came to this rehabilitation center for acupuncture after struggling with a disc bulge in my lower back. My orthopedic doctor had strongly recommended spinal fusion surgery, but I really wanted to avoid surgery if possible.

I decided to try acupuncture, and it has truly been a game-changer for me.

I've been seeing Dr. Lee for a few weeks now, and I started feeling real pain relief after just 3-4 visits. Before this, I was in constant pain 24 /7, nothing helped, even after trying physical therapy, a steroid injection, pain medications, and deep tissue massage.

Now, my pain is minimal, and my mobility has improved so much. I can finally move without that constant ache. I highly recommend Dr. Lee and suggest trying acupuncture if you haven't already, it made all the difference for me!

Why should a patient choose acupuncture?

People choose acupuncture because it can be used in conjunction with other therapies, it has no side effects and allows for convenient scheduling.

Every acupuncture appointment is focused and effective, allowing patients to return to work quickly.

If you really want to feel better, try Acupuncture!

Acupuncture harnesses the recuperative and pain relieving abilities of the human body to relieve pain and inflammation and it allows patients to take less medication. This allows for the avoidance of known stomach and liver problems associated with many pain relievers.

Acupuncture is for when you really want to feel better with no major downsides or side effects.

What to know about your Acupuncture appointment

Most acupuncture sessions are thirty minutes long but the first session is 45 - 60 minutes because it includes a detailed patient interview by the acupuncturist. Subsequent follow up appointments are all 30 minutes long.

The only thing we recommend for an acupuncture appointment is that the patient wears loose fitting, comfortable clothing that doesn’t bind and short sleeves are encouraged.

The History of Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been practiced in China and other Asian countries for thousands of years.  It describes a family of procedures involving the stimulation of anatomical point on the body by penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation.  Most patients feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted.  Some people feel energized by treatments while others feel very relaxed.
